Carricante is the leading white of Etna: grown at altitude on the volcanic slopes, it produces wines of great minerality, freshness and longevity.

Characteristics and history

Carricante is the leading white grape of Etna Bianco DOC and Etna Bianco Superiore DOC. Grown up to 900 metres in altitude on the volcano's lava soils. It produces wines of a straw colour, sustained acidity, a typical volcanic "salty" minerality and a profile of citrus, flowers and anise. Excellent longevity (10-15 years).
