Cesanese is the native red grape of Lazio: it produces Cesanese del Piglio DOCG (Lazio's only DOCG), a structured wine of the Ciociaria area.

Characteristics and history

Cesanese is the native red grape of Lazio (Cesanese di Affile, Cesanese Comune). It is the basis of Cesanese del Piglio DOCG, Lazio's only DOCG. It produces structured wines with a profile of sour cherry, violet, spices and tobacco. Great potential still little known.
