Tenute Rubino Salento IGT Susumaniello 2012 Torre Testa
The Rubino family estate, founded by Tommaso in the Eighties, today counts more than 200 hectares of vineyard and, from the Two Thousands onward, with Luigi it became Tenute Rubino, one of the most dynamic wine realities in Salento.
Very active on foreign markets, from which it draws 70% of its turnover, it is increasingly specializing in excellence productions, with a very attentive eye to marketing and wine culture.
The production sites are four, spread between the Adriatic coast and the hinterland of Brindisi, and are characterized, albeit with some differences, by very deep sandy soils and the generous influence of the sea. Here all the most typical grape varieties of Salento are cultivated and, in particular, Primitivo, Negroamaro, Malvasia bianca and nera, and the Susumaniello we are discussing today.
This grape variety features a medium-sized berry of an intense blue color and can be cultivated throughout Puglia with the exception of the province of Foggia. For a long time it was not vinified on its own but was always used to give color and vigor to other grape varieties.
On the eye it presents a very intense purple, so much so as to not let light filter through, yet still brilliant with very deep violet reflections.
On the nose notes of macerated red fruits, honey, apricot and peach stand out, and upon swirling, graphite and white pepper.
On the palate it seems to explode, with very pronounced tactile sensations and very accentuated and persistent red fruit notes, with the alcoholic sensation skillfully distributed and never bothersome.
