Il crowdfunding (from the words crowd and funding) – or collective financing for those who prefer not to use English – is a very popular way to raise funds on the web.
It is often used by innovators to promote hypothetical product/service prototypes and gather the necessary funds online to bring these novelties to life!
The phenomenon is very popular in the USA, but in Italy, as always, it takes a while to catch on!
There are many dedicated portals where you can search the web for investors. On one of these, Kickstarter, you can fund the "Pinocchio Barrique Bottle" project.
As the name suggests, it is a wooden bottle – suitable for both wine and spirits – that promises to age its contents "in just 10 days with the same effects as 6 months in a barrique."
Beautiful and made exclusively from European oak, it was conceived by San Vigilio ltd, founded by Alessio Brotto, based in the United Kingdom.
Small size, lower cost, minimal weight, and versatility are its key selling points, along with ease of use: simply fill the bottle with hot water for about twelve hours to expand the wood's pores, and voilà! Ready to use!
In short, you too can experience the thrill of being a producer!
If the fundraising goes well, you will be able to purchase this item in April.
Let's hope, however, that the Pinocchio Bottle does not give birth to the so-called "carpenter's wines" (our apologies to Mastro Geppetto!).
