Passito Wine Tre Filer Ca' dei Frati

Dear friends of Wineatwine, today I want to tell you about a passito wine produced by a winery I have already written about in another article regarding a pairing between Risi&bisi and Lugana I Frati.

This wine is composed of three grape varieties: 60% Trebbiano di Lugana (known in dialect as Turbiana), 20% Chardonnay and 20% Sauvignon – hence the name Tre Filer, meaning three rows of vines.

Tre Filer wine description

The wine:
Visually it presents itself as bright, with a beautiful golden yellow color; good consistency in the glass with slow tears and closely spaced arches.

On the nose it is intense, complex, refined, with a broad olfactory bouquet from which floral hints of wilted yellow flowers such as broom emerge, along with fruity notes of apple jam, dried apricot, pineapple, ripe banana, peaches in syrup and shelled dried fruit such as hazelnuts; sweet spice notes like vanilla and hints of honey also stand out.

On the palate it is immediately sweet, warm, decidedly soft, fairly fresh and fairly savory.
It is a full-bodied wine, overall well-balanced, intense, with a long gustatory persistence that retro-nasally reprises the sensations previously perceived.

I would pair it with: blue cheeses and goat cheeses, dry pastries, puff pastry and shortcrust pastry desserts with vanilla creams.
Also worth trying as a meditation wine in the company of friends or a good book!

As always, I bid you a warm farewell and wish you all the best.
