Wine Stoppers: a new way to preserve wine

Some time ago we covered, in our ABC del Vino guide, a very delicate topic: preserving leftover wine!
In my opinion the best way to preserve it is to finish it! I am generally skeptical about almost all methods of preserving already-opened bottles, which should in any case be consumed within a short period.
More interesting content was offered some time ago when we talked about some ways to recycle leftover wine.

Today we will talk about Taftware: an American startup founded in 2014 by Jon, Matt and Mike in Michigan: they are now seeking funds on Kickstarter with the specific goal of creating something to better seal our bottles. So far they have raised $5,600 and need at least another $1,300 to find in four days.

The "Taper" they developed is simple and rather elegant, taking the shape of stoppers already on the market – the distinguishing feature lies in the materials; depending on the version, the object is made 100% from:

• Stainless Steel for resistance to corrosion and impact
• Titanium – stronger than steel and lighter
• "Soapstone": non-porous and resistant

All products are customizable with initials, inscriptions and various font types, and also available in various eye-catching packaging – but will our friends manage to find the small amount of remaining funds? We wish them well, though the idea does not seem particularly innovative!
