Today we present the longest-aged Cabernet Sauvignon produced in Sicily, born from the VIVA project Sustainable Wine: eco-sustainable wines.
At the last Vinitaly I had the pleasure of tasting a Cabernet Sauvignon IGT 2011 from the winery Tasca D'Almerita, produced at its Tenute Regaleali estate located in central Sicily in the province of Palermo: this is the first winery to produce Cabernet Sauvignon in purezza in Sicily.
The color is an intense ruby red, with good consistency.
On the nose, an intense aroma of wild berries seasoned with spicy nuances of black pepper and a light vegetal note, green pepper, typical of this grape variety, with delicate herbaceous hints on the finish.
On the palate it is warm and soft, appropriately tannic, with smooth and silky tannins due to aging in French oak barriques, which impart notes of vanilla and a slight balsamic quality.
A full-bodied and well-balanced wine with good freshness.
Served at 18°C, it pairs beautifully with roasted and grilled meats, game, or braised meat.
The wine expresses all its originality and personality inherited from the remarkable terroir of this area, renowned for the fertility of its soils and the quality of its produce, characterized by a very favorable climate: with harsh winters and summers with strong day-to-night temperature variations.
Its price is proportionate to the value of this particular product: approximately 25 euros per bottle.
