I belong to a generation that grew up with the myth of the Ferrari " testarossa ", perhaps I was in elementary school or at most middle school, and for us that car was synonymous with luxury and extreme speed!
During a conversation I was told about this Abruzzo wine produced by cantina Pasetti – "people who know how to make wine!" I filed it away in my brain, which becomes like a computer when it comes to wines, and waited for the right moment to buy it.
As if by magic, just a few days later, while strolling through a supermarket, I was struck by "50% OFF AT THE REGISTER" – a yellow sticker with red writing that, placed on an ordinary bottle would have intrigued me (and I probably would have bought it!), but on that particular bottle it was almost an imperative to buy!
I headed to the register and for a price of just €7 I brought home this trebbiano blended with pecorino.
I don't love trebbiano and I remained skeptical, but I couldn't ignore a recommendation I had been given!
I lovingly stored the bottle for a few days and then decided to do justice to those who, with the same feeling, contributed to the production process that brought that drink to my table.
A golden yellow color that strikes the eye and makes me curious, a very intense and persistent aroma in which you can sense the origin from a soil particularly rich in minerals.
Hints of citrus, an enveloping taste and an interesting alcoholic body certainly make it an excellent wine.
The pairing, unintentional to be honest, with the pollo al curry was a pleasant coincidence that I made a point of repeating.
If a red wine lover like me is pleasantly surprised by a white, this wine will probably be able to win over very discerning palates.
