Barbera is the second most important Piedmontese red grape after Nebbiolo. It is the basis of numerous DOC/DOCG wines (Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Barbera del Monferrato Superiore DOCG, Nizza DOCG, Barbera d'Alba DOC). It produces wines of intense colour, high acidity, moderate tannins and a profile of sour cherry, plum and spices. Versatile: from fresh young wines to ageworthy Riservas.
